Word crashing on start

I had an issue where word 2007 and word pad were crashing the second I tried to start them up. After 4 hours of banging my head against a wall (and deleting Templates/*.dotm, destroying my registry etc) I saw a post that fixed the issue.

My default printer was pointing to a device that wasn't reachable (in my office, I'm at home currently). Once I changed the default to the XPS printer, issue is resolved.

No more blackberry foo

iPod touch. I am so happy I don't have to live my social networking existence on my blackberry any longer. My wife is awesome.

Love my new work laptop...

I've never been a hardware guy (came up through the software side) but this new Dell E6400 is flippin sweet. I've got an XP VM running on Vista with no issues. Heard lots of people complaining about Vista performance.

I've got an XP VM up running multi-media while doing grad school stuff on the Vista side (and I have Aero enabled).

So don't know if it's Vista improvements or the new chip but it's running plenty fast.

The wisdom of mothers

As noted, Rhys went to the ER twice within a 12 hour period. In between those two visits (during "THE VIRUS!" stage) my wife said "hey, I think it's allergies, we need to take Rhys to get checked out".

Sure enough she gets to the ER the second time and is told "ya know, you really ought to get him checked out for allergies"...

My wife is a genius and I'm just glad it's not "THE VIRUS!" striking again...

THE VIRUS! IT'S THE VIRUS AGAIN!

OK, so here I am blogging while watching my kids. Well, all my kids except for one. That would be Rhys. Where is Rhys? Well, he's at the ER AGAIN! So, two weeks ago he got hives. It was THE VIRUS! Last night, into the ER. What do you know! Godzilla, er sorry, THE VIRUS strikes again! And now? Well, I'm waiting to hear if the VIRUS has come out from the depths.

Honestly, I work in the healthcare industry and completely understand a) it is a virus and b) there is nothing they can do. It's just super annoying... You never know, maybe this time it wont' be THE VIRUS and we can get some meds!!!

I believe in God and Science!

There, I coined it. Thank me later...

Was watching the DNC and am sick and tired of hearing someone say something like "I believe in science". Sheesh, it's not a religion folks (actually for some it is... sad).

News flash (feel free to quote me): it's OK to believe in God and Science... Everybody repeat with me now!

I miss my iPhone, but can't live without my new blackberry

I was bummed when I had to get rid of my iPhone because my job wouldn't allow anything to connect to our mail servers except for blackberries.

I was equally bummed to read this:
http://apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/07/25/who-is-to-blame-for-mobileme/

Honestly, the blackberry isn't flashy (I won't lie, I miss my iPhone), but the thing just plain works. It's super solid, and I have had 0 issues since I got it 2 months ago.

The iPhone is great for surfing the web at home, but for work it's still the blackberry for me...
